Bread Papa Cream Puff

Submitted by livetodine

The best cream puff you will ever eat. I had 2 in one day. This new store (a franchise actually) recently opened in Richmond BC and the line up is long but so worth it. I could eat half a dozen but would probably die of a heart attack seconds after the last one! I am not kidding when I say this is the best cream puff eva!
Macaroni and Cheese

If my wife and I go shopping at Ikea, we go after work on a Friday. The place is nearly empty, so we fly through the store in record time. Problem is, our stomachs are nearly empty too, which means either shopping with low blood sugar, or a paying a visit to the heinous Ikea cafeteria. Worst macaroni and cheese I've ever tasted. It was bland, mushy and barely edible, in fact my wife couldn't even finish it. Salad was bitter and the dressing straight out of a bottle. Next time we come, we're shopping on empty.
Spinach and Cheese Quiche

I've always thought Ikea furniture was poorly made, but their food is ten times worse. If you've ever bought a piece of cheaply made Ikea furniture, you know this must mean their food is pure crap. Gooey pastry, tasteless filling and a bitter salad. How do you say awful in Swedish? Ohygglig.
Cinnamon Bun

Another pre-made, factory pastry. Do yourself a favour and do not go to any Ikea location on an empty stomach. While this bun took the edge of my wife's hunger, it was anything but satisfying. If you think their pastries are bad, wait till you taste their hot entrees.
Copenhagen Roll

Basically an apple strudel in a swirly pattern. Fresh-out-of-the-box, as most Ikea food items are. A bit dry, but otherwise tasted like any factory made pastry would.
Curry Chicken

Submitted by Finn

Talk about portion control. The guy slinging the curry was digging through the pot to find the two potato pieces to go with my meal. Then carefully ladled out just enough sauce to cover the dish, even pausing to assess the amount before letting another quarter teaspoon drip onto my plate. The curry itself was good, tender chicken, lightly spiced. I choose to have this over a Malaysian pancake instead of rice, good choice. It's a little touch of sweetness to go along with the tang of the curry.
Malaysian Fried Noodles

The Richmond Night market is a great place to go to chow down on some Asian "street-ish" food. Tastes almost the same as real street food, and way less risk of food poisoning. Only way to make a meal out of your trip here is to spend a bit of cash. Posted prices are pretty good - only $2.00 for this dish - but the portions are pretty darn small. Some booths are a better value, but the small portion size was consistent overall. Reasonably prepared noodles. nothing exceptional, decent noodle and vegetable flavour.
Grilled Chicken Burger

For an airport Vancouver International has some great eateries, but my delay was only 45 minutes, so I didn't get a chance to slip into one. Speaking in generalities it's easy to say all fast-food is bad, well airport fast-food is even worse. Crappy burger, greasy onion rings and bitter coffee. Ugh, a meal I'd sooner forget about.
English Muffin with egg

Very unimpressive. It didn't taste all that good and it took forever to prepare. But I was hungry and at an airport so what do you do?
New York Pepper Steak

Submitted by jt99

After working out at the aquatic facility next door my wife and I rewarded ourselves with a meal at the Big River Brew Pub. I selected the New York Pepper Steak smothered in a smoky barbecue peppercorn sauce accompanied with delicious garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. This tasty meal was washed down with a smooth, rich, almost Guinness-like beer brewed on site. Great atmosphere, decent service, very good food & drink, and totally guilt free when you exercise first.
