Dahl Bat

Submitted by wilhelmus

Our last diner on the trail so we ate this meal Nepali style; with our hands. Our right hands that is, because the left hand is reserved for other purposes. This Dahl Bat was very good.
Vegetarian Noodles

Submitted by wilhelmus

Fried noodles mixed with seasonal vegetables. Simple yet delicious. Consumed outside in the afternoon sun. I wish I was back in Ghanduk.
Russian Salad

Submitted by wilhelmus

Awesome salad at one of the best lodges we stayed at. The town of Ghanduk is also very nice. High on a hill. Deep down in the valley, a river. In between endless terraces were farmers grow their crops.
Simple Breakfast

Submitted by wilhelmus

A typical morning on the circuit is to get up at the crack of dawn, pack your stuff, have breakfast and go. The walls of most lodges are super thin so it's noisy early in the morning. The lady next door started banging on the wall when we got up and yelled 'some of us are trying to sleep here'. We couldn't do anything but laugh. About the meal, the name says it all. The curried potatoes were outstanding.
Vegetarian Kopta

Submitted by wilhelmus

Honestly, I have no idea what Kopta is. My memory doesn't recall and I didn't make a note of it in my journal. What I can say is that Tadopani is a small town with nothing but guest houses and souvenir vendors.
Veggie Mushroom Burger

Submitted by wilhelmus

Ordering in Nepal is always an adventure because you never know what you'll get. Make no assumptions is the key. Especially when ordering a western dish. So in this case the burger was a scrapple of veggies in a thick piece of brown bread. Different..and delicious.
Chocolate Pudding

Submitted by wilhelmus

Tip: don't order the chocolate pudding pudding if you ever decide to hike the Annapurna Circuit. I don't know how they made it and I don't want to know. It was liquid, warm mud and that's what it tasted like. I'm not a picky eater but I couldn't finish this.
Macaroni

Submitted by wilhelmus

Another version of a Annapurna staple. This one was tasty even though it was basically onions, tomato and cheese. Ghorepani was one of the towns controlled by the Maoists, with a huge banner with communist heroes decorating the town square.
Popcorn

Submitted by wilhelmus

Popcorn is a nice snack on the trail. We ate it most nights when we played cards with our guides. The corn is locally grown of course.
Swiss Rosti and egg

Submitted by wilhelmus

Halfway down the trail between Ghorepani and Tadapani is the small town of Banthani. This day was different because most of the trail went through a beautiful dense forest. I remember that it was very cold when I had this meal and there was no room in the kitchen. But the food tasted great.
