Enchiladas Suzias

mexican, enchalada, dinner, Chicken, beans, rice,
Submitted by Finn

Drive past that Bellis Fair mess and get some decent food in the town of Bellingham. Two authentic enchiladas stuffed with chicken, accompanied by the usual suspects - beans, rice and salad. My wife raved, so it gets four stars.

Shrimps grilled in butter and the house special sauce. Although the menu promised HOT, it could have used some more kick. Delicious all the same.

Mi Pueblo offers large portions for a reasonable price. This pork burrito was stuffed and I had half the next day. Great value and really tasty.

Bean Arepa

vegetarian, beans, bread, venezuelan,
Submitted by wilhelmus

Very similar to the cheese one. But in this case, the bread was filled with refried beans. Maybe what's missing is a little seasoning.

Main Street Eggs

I would usually avoid patronizing any establishment that is decorated in some sort of Hobbit theme, complete with tree trunks and cavern-like bathrooms. But I make an exception for Locus, one of my favourite spots in Vancouver. Cool vibe, excellent food and the owner is more than gracious, not to mention a total hoot to talk to. Eggs over easy, bourbon-molasses baked beans and rosemary chicken sausage, served with hot bread and flavoured butters. Delicious! Bottomless Americanos too. You heard me right, bottomless Americanos.

It came complimentary with our hotel. Not a great breakfast but not terrible either. A little boring after a few days.

Spicy String Bean Szechuan Style

beans, beef, chinese, dinner,
Submitted by Finn

Continuing our exploration of the limited dining options in our new neighbourhood. Tonight our travels take us to the local shopping plaza and 54th Avenue Cafe Restaurant, a chinese restaurant offering straight up Cantonese and Szechuan style food. Apparently Szechuan style beans at this place means tossed with ground beef, a serious problem because I don't eat beef. At least my wife really enjoyed them The few cow-free beans I managed to find were delicious, likely the best-dish of the evening. My rating is based on that and my wife's reaction, which was a happy one.

This is my favorite meal at the mouse and the bean, a truly authentic Mexican restaurant. Filled with veggies and beans and covered with cheese. The cheese is very stringy and tastes good.

Bean Tostada

annapurna circuit, vegetarian, mexican, beans, tostada, rice,
Submitted by wilhelmus

Yes, this a bean tostada. Let be fair, the chance that the chef has been to Mexico is very small. So it doesn't really matter if the name of the meal matches the western definition. what matters is if the meal tastes good. And believe me, this meal was great.
